Believe it or not, I decided to give actual blogging a try in 2024. Previously, I’d sporadically publish a recipe on this website, here and there, but it was never an intentional thing. That changed about a year ago, however, when Anthony and I decided that 2024 would be the Year of the Blog. And what a year it’s been! I’ve been posting new recipes every week for several months, and I’ve learned a ton about what it means to cultivate not just a catalogue of yummy dishes, but a community of trust.

Because that’s what it’s all about, right? The trust you give me to actually try the recipes I share!

I want to thank you all for trusting me with your pots, pans, kitchen knives, and, most importantly, with your stomachs! And with that, the following are your favorite recipes of 2024!!

10. Easy Heart-Healthy Savory Oatmeal: Bibim Oats.

This one was a surprise to me! I did not think there would be so many people interested in my Korean take on oatmeal, mostly designed to get my parents to eat more oats! But believe it or not, it begins this list as the 10th most popular recipe on the blog in 2024!

9. Easy vegan blueberry cobbler (gf option).

I came up with this recipe because I love blueberries, but sometimes, making muffins or cake is just too much work. Plus, I’ve found that cobblers are so easy to modify for gluten-free diets! The results were absolutely magical.

DELICIOUSSS!!! I made this yesterday and I have shared this recipe with the fam plus friends. I have to share with my friends else will eat the whole tray myself 🙂 Thank you.

8. 5 easy korean zucchini recipes.

I love zucchini in the summer, especially Korean zucchini. One day, I walked out of the Korean grocery store with 11 zucchini and decided to make a day of it!

Thank you so much for sharing the recipes and all of the notes. I’ll be making the Korean Zucchini Pancakes for company in a couple of days.

7. DREAMY HOMEMADE VEGAN TIRAMISU RECIPE.

My husband asked me to make him tiramisu. What he didn’t realize was that, once requested, I would stop at nothing to perfect a vegan version. Thus ensued several iterations. But it was all worth it!

Made this for my mom and she loved it!

6. KIMCHI SOONDOOBOO CHIGAE.

And oldie, but a goodie. This mashup between two classic Korean stews is a dream of kimchi proportions!

I’ve been making this super often (by memory and with my own probably quite American additions) since I found the recipe maybe two years ago. I’m back to do the original recipe again, this soup is so incredible. I’m home sick from work and I’ve been craving it for a whole day now and finally have the energy to make it!

5. Healthy and Easy Vegan Japchae.

Japchae is a dish fit for royalty, but I wanted to make an “everyday” version that also boosts those nutrients proven to promote longevity.

I love all your recipes! Big THANK YOU!

4. easy & hi-protein vegan kimchi jjigae.

I came up with this recipe when it became clear I was entering that wonderful stage in life called “perimenopause.” I guess it’s finally time to start paying attention to protein!

Oh seriously. This is the bomb. My hmart has vegan kimchi which I always have on hand. In fact I had EVERYTHING on hand including udon noodles in the freezer. Will go into regular rotation!!

3. 15-minute easy vegan tteokbokki.

I mean, who doesn’t like tteokbokki? This 15-minute version will satisfy that late-night Kdrama craving while packing TONS of heat!

Made this a few weeks ago and making it again tonight. Very authentic and delicious.”

2. The best vegan kimchi (김치) recipe.

The very first thing I set out to veganize when I went plant-based in 2016 was kimchi, because I couldn’t call myself Korean without figuring it out. Well, let’s just say–I’ve figured it out!

ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN BANGING.

1. spicy & crunchy Garlic Tofu (Kkanpoong tofu).

This is one of the first recipes I ever developed when I went vegan and man-oh-man, year after year, it proves to be my most popular!! If you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for?

I’ve longed for a recipe that can make me really love tofu. This recipe does just that for me.

The kimchi recipe is just fabulous. Fabulous! I would never have thought of adding apple to kimchi, and it’s wonderful.
Discovering that almost all commercial kimchi contains fish or shrimp was a very sad thing for me. After the sadness, though, came my new kimchi-making habit! And this recipe is one of my favourites.
Thank you.
(The pumpkin curry from a couple of months back is on rotation in our house too.)

I loved the cobbler and made it a couple of times. I also had a big pile of pumpkin to use up in the autumn so made the hi-protein pumpkin curry (yum) and my favourite the pumpkin ramen.

Cant wait to make that Bibimoatmeal – I love a savory oatmeal and regularly do sauteed spinach and mushrooms with soy sauce on top. Will try this version. Also the Japche will get made this weekend after I get some noodles. Thanks for your recipes so I can stay vegan eating authentic Korean food.

Yum! I’m looking forward to trying a few from this list. But, question: How did you determine “most popular”? Most views across platforms? Most comments? Most thumbs up on videos? Or some other metric? I keep reading year-end blog posts from others about popular items, esp clothing and shoes, but I’ve never understood how that’s calculated. Clicks? Purchases? Feedback? Returns?
